Happy Tuesday everyone! I have Abby as a guest blogger today. Abby is the sweet lady who made me my Covert Robin gift.
Hello, there! My name is Abby, and I am the mastermind behind abbydid, where I create all manner of plush goodness. A few months ago I caught wind of the Covert Robin, a mystery gift exchange by my dear, darling friend Rachael of Imagine Gnats. Mystery goodies in the mail? Sign me up!
Getting gifts is great and all, but there are few things I like better than surprising someone else with one of my critters. When I received the name of who I'd send my creation I went to work exploring her blog and interests. Luckily, Cindy of Spin the Bobbin easily inspires. Her work is so beautiful, isn't it? I admire quilters so much. Quilting is such a passion-filled, painstaking process, one where I readily admit to being a novice. It takes someone special to do it well, and Cindy clearly is just that sort of person.
So what should I make her, I asked myself? I decided to try my hand at a piecework Wibbly Woo. A Wibbly Woo is a pocket monster that originates from the peat bogs of Northern England. He has a large pocket mouth perfect for safe-guarding treasures, and makes for an excellent companion at bedtime. He comes in all sorts of colors and textures, but this was the first time I went with a quilted theme.
Working with minky microfiber, my fabric of choice, proved a bit tricky. Fur has a tendency to move around while you work. In the end, though, I think he turned out quite nicely, and I hope he brightens Cindy's day. He was certainly fun to make!
Thanks Abby! I really appreciate you making me a quilted Wibbly Woo and thank you for guest blogging today. Also, thank you Rachael for coordinating Covert Robin.
Have a great day!
Cindy
